THE HEARTSONG ANGEL

One of Bette's many interests is photographing cemetery sculpture of angels or people. The Heartsong angel marks the grave of a child named Claire Oliver who lived three days in 1929. She is buried at Old Liberty Cemetery, which does not appear to be attached to any church and is located about twenty miles southeast of Bowling Green, Kentucky in a very remote area.   Bette feels very bonded to this angel and often photographs her, using various props. Cemetery art such as this is pretty much non-existent in remote areas now as it has been stolen to use for making molds to create "antiques".
