AMERICAN COUNCIL OF HYPNOTIST EXAMINERS CODE OF CONDUCT FOR  PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE OF HYPNOTHERAPY

Each Hypnotherapist is to embrace the concept that every practitioner  individually represents the collective body of hypnotherapists worldwide.  Individual conduct can reflect on everyone practicing hypnotherapy.

AMERICAN COUNCIL OF HYPNOTIST EXAMINERS SCHOOLS are approved by their State Board of Education or equivalent agency.  Teacher/trineers are approved by State Post-Secondary Education agency.  Training occurs in a classroom setting and credit is given for assigned home study work.  Diploma and OCCUPATIONAL Titles are awarded after completion of required hours of training (minimum of 300 hours) and successful completion of written and practical skills examination.  Students are then eligible to apply for certification by ACHE.

The Hypnotherapist agrees to actively and ethically promote hypnotherapy as a recognized and separately defined profession.  (Dictionary of Occupational titles—United States Department of Labor.)

ACHE certified hypnotherapists agree not to advertise the degree “Doctor of Clinical Hypnotherapy” since this degree is NOT AWARDED BY AN ACCREDITED UNIVERSITY OROCCUPATIONAL/VOCATIONAL INSTITUTION recognized by the United States Department of Education.  Advertising of hypnotherapy services or training should not infer that the hypnotherapist has either medical or psychotherapy training a hypnotherapy school.

It is a legal mandate that hypnotherapists must avoid the use of the following words:  psychologist, psychotherapist, psychotherapy, medical, dental, treatment, cure, health care,   in defining their services.  These words are restricted to specific licensed healing arts and counseling professions.

ACHE Hypnotherapists are required to continue their education in hypnotherapy.  Continuing education is defined as:  a minimum of 30 hours of continuing education in coursework, workshops or seminars which are approved by ACHE.
